Event Description
Start the new year with a scenic run or walk in this unique event. You can choose to participate on New Year's Eve or on New Year's Day or both. For the best New Year's Eve celebration in the valley, enjoy the party before and after the race - information coming soon. Room specials are also available at the Valley River Inn - information on accommodations coming soon.
Event Challenge
Participants completing both events will be eligible for special awards, based upon the cummulative time from each event. There are three combinations of event doubles: 1) Run both 5K events (10K total), 2) Run one 5K event and one 10K event (15 total), and 3) Run both 10K events (20K total).
Distances
This event features a 10K (6.2 mile) and 5K (3.1 mile) run or walk.
Location
Valley River Inn - Eugene, Oregon.
Chip Timing
This year's event will be chip timed, utilizing a Chip Start, due to a narrow starting line. Age group awards for this event will be based on Chip Time, while overall awards will be based on Gun Time.
Directions
In Eugene, take the Delta Highway to the Valley River Center exit. Turn left at the first stoplight after the exit, and proceed south 1/2 mile to the Valley River Inn.
Course
The 10K and 5K run/walks start and finish at the Valley River Inn, following the bike paths along the Willamette River. The courses are flat, fast and scenic! For the night race, the course will be well lit with street lights along the bike path and flashing orange lights at every turn. Click here for the
5K COURSE MAP. Click here for the
10K COURSE MAP. Click here for a
PRINTABLE COURSE MAP. Please note: The course for the night race may change due to weather conditions and course marshal availability - in this event, the course would be entirely on the north bank bike path, heading east and then returning west - click here for the
ALTERNATE COURSE MAP.
It is not our preference to lay out courses in an "out and back" fashion. This event only utilizes this course style due to safety concerns (in case of ice on corners) and ease of navigation, particularly during the night edition of this event.
